STACKALEE BY FRANK HUTCHISON, 1927
REMIX: DEARRAINDROP, STACKALEE, 2007
'Stackalee' is based on an actual murder in St. Louis in 1895, as
Harry Smith describes in the liner notes “theft of stetson hat
causes deadly dispute.” According to some sources Stack Lee
was a person named Lee Sheldon who shot a man after his hat was snatched,
he was arrested and sent to prison.
