REMIX: ROB CHURM, IT IS SO BLUE WITHOUT HIM, 2007

The artist describes this work as depicting “a ring of Archons. They are juggling with Qualia at the base of 'The Fire whose Ashes are Cold.” This work is a reflection on Harry Smith’s study of belief systems and mysticism. Some Gnostics taught that the world is ruled by evil archons, among them the deity of the Old Testament, who hold captive the spirit of humanity. The archons are the Gnostic controllers of the seven spheres. Churm’s work often depicts surreal and mystical scenes, merging expressionistic forms with abstract graphics.

Rob Churm lives and works in Glasgow. Recent exhibitions include ‘Not these tones’ at Glasgow Project Rooms in 2005 and a group show with Seripop at Whitechapel Project Space in January 2007. He also in the band Park Attack who have released two albums ‘Half Past Human' and 'Last Drop at Hideout'.
