C. Spencer Yeh, He Got Better Things For You, 2007

48. HE GOT BETTER THINGS FOR YOU BY MEMPHIS SANCTIFIED SINGERS, 1929

REMIX: C. SPENCER YEH, HE GOT BETTER THINGS FOR YOU, 2007

C.Spencer Yeh selected one of his personal favourites from the Anthology: “The very first image I had in my head when invited to do this project was that of an iconic Jesus-image in the darkness, cropped and cloaked in a mysterious manner, bringing something out of his eyes a sinister air. I'm often concerned with either stripping away or concealing elements in my work, so that minimal aspects can resonate in a maximum manner. Also included with the work is a prayer card I had purchased from a local Christian bookstore, originally with the intent of incorporating it into a collage. I included this card along with the piece, as I have no more use for it, and is better off travelling with the work.”

Cincinatti based musician C.Spencer Yeh also performs as Burning Star Core, creating epic adventurous sounds using voice, violin and electronics. He has recently performed at Frieze Music in 2006 and is part of the Free Noise tour produced by No-Fi in 2007.
