REMIX: YAMANTAKA EYE, BIRD WATCH, 2007
This new work by Japanese contemporary artist and seminal musician
Yamantaka Eye was generated spontaneously from ideas about Harry Smith.
Yamantaka Eye has exhibited his visual artwork at PS1, New York; GATAX,
Tokyo; magical ARTROOM, Tokyo and Transplant Gallery, New York. Known
primarily as the vocalist of the Boredoms, he has worked with artists
such as Nam June Paik and John Zorn, and has recently started performing
solo as DJ Pika Pika Pika. In 1996, a full colour collection of his
artwork, entitled ‘Nanoo’, was published. Eye's artwork
has adorned a number of records, including most albums by the Boredoms
and Beck’s ‘Midnite Vultures’.
